Sexually transmitted infections (STI) are diseases that are transmitted through all forms of sexual contact. Some STIs can be cured but others cannot. Many STIs do not show symptoms immediately and can be active without any signs. All STIs can be harmful, even the ones without obvious symptoms.
STIs are more common than you think. The CDC* estimates that 1 in 5 people in the US have a sexually transmitted infection and almost half of new cases each year are among young people ages 15-24.
If you are sexually active you need to get tested regularly for your health and the health of your partner. Options does not offer testing but has information regarding sexually transmitted infections and where to get tested.
